This qualification can only be obtained by fulfilling the obligations of an apprentice under a training contract except: • a person who is temporarily living in Australia on a student visa issued by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection may obtain the qualification through a registered training provider approved to deliver a course for the qualification; or • a person seeking recognition of prior learning under s60I of the VET Act.

Description

This qualification applies to individuals working as a pre-press tradesperson. Typically they design and prepare layouts and artwork, manipulate images and text to meet production and design requirements and apply solutions to a defined range of problems associated with, and characteristic to, the print medium. They may also provide some leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

Total number of units = Twenty one (21) units
Four (4) core units, plus
Seventeen (17) elective units of which:

- Ten (10) elective units must be from Group A
- Two (2) elective units must be from group A or B
- Two (2) elective units must be from Group B
- the remaining Three (3) elective units may be selected from the remaining elective units, from other qualifications in this Training Package or any other endorsed Training Package, or from an accredited course at Certificate III or IV level.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
