Description

This qualification is the industry qualification for persons operating within a companion animal organisation.
Job roles covered by this qualification may include:
pet shop/aquarium assistant
kennel attendant
cattery attendant
assistant dog trainer
pet exerciser
assistant grooming attendant.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, an individual unit of competency may specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant State or Territory.

Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:
- fifteen (15) units of competency:
- six (6) core units plus
- nine (9) elective units.

Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives are to be chosen as follows:
- four (4) from the electives listed below in Group A
- up to five (5) from the remaining electives listed in Group A and/or Group B
- up to five (5) from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
