Description

This is a pre-entry course addressing the competencies required by those wishing to commence a career in the building and construction industry leading to non-trade technical occupations such as scheduler, estimator, contract administrator, designer, draftsperson, pre-start consultant, or related off-site construction support roles.

In addition to a flexible technical support pathway, the course also has three pathway specialisations available.
- Pathway 1: Estimating, Drafting and Scheduling
- Pathway 2: Project and Contract Support
- Pathway 3: Modern Methods of Construction

The flexible pathway allows electives to be selected from across the specialisations to suit learner and organisational requirements.

If a specialisation is achieved, this is reflected in the title of the qualification awarded, with the specialisation added in brackets.

Schedule
For the award of the Certificate II in Building and Construction Technical Support, competency must be achieved in fourteen (14) units of competency:
- Five (5) core units
- Nine (9) elective units.

All core units must be achieved.

Electives must be chosen as follows:
- At least three (3) units must be selected from Group A
- At least two (2) units must be selected from Group B
- Remaining units may be selected from Groups A to E and may include up to two (2) units from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided that the units contribute to the stated vocational outcomes of the qualification, do not duplicate any of the listed electives, and maintain the integrity of the qualification alignment to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) at level 2.

Pathway specialisations
The qualification also provides for three pathway specialisations. To achieve a specialisation, additional packaging rules must also be met for each pathway:
- Pathway 1: For the award of Certificate II in Building and Construction Technical Support (Estimating, Drafting and Scheduling), three (3) electives must be selected from Group C.
- Pathway 2: For the award of Certificate II in Building and Construction Technical Support (Project and Contract Support), three (3) electives must be selected from Group D.
