Description

This qualification reflects the role of workers who perform a range of operations to directly produce manufactured mineral products for industry, including cement, precast concrete, pre-mixed concrete, quarry and asphalt.
The worker will be able to work independently and to apply theoretical and technical knowledge and well-developed skills to undertake operations and exercise judgement in areas such as start-up and shutdown procedures and quality assurance.
The worker will be able to apply product and process knowledge to anticipate and solve a range of routine and non-routine problems. This includes developing solutions to new problems which do not have a known or recorded solution in procedures.
 
There are 0 minimum work placement hours required for this unit.

Total number of units = Eighteen (18)
- five (5) core units
- thirteen (13) elective units, consisting of:
- a maximum of one (1) unit from Group A Measurements
- up to four (4) units from any endorsed Training Package or accredited course - these units must be relevant to the work outcome

All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Any combination of electives that meets the rules above may be selected for the award of MSM30325 Certificate III in Manufactured Mineral Products.

Where appropriate, electives may be selected to achieve specialisations as follows:
- for the award of MSM30325 Certificate III in Manufactured Mineral Products (precast concrete), at least 4 units must be selected from Group B.
