State Implementation and Classification
Description
This course is intended to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to perform the following tasks associated with entry-level workforce participation, in a range of trade-related industries:
- Safe operations within the workplace
- Communication in the workplace
- Planning and organisational requirements
- Trade related duties within any of the trade-related industries
- General maintenance within a variety of settings including remote communities
- Communicate with trades persons
In addition, the following needs can be addressed as required:
- People skills to assist in sustaining employment
- Self-esteem (through completion of the program offered)
- Improved literacy, numeracy and digital technology skills

Certificate I in Industrial Skills is configured around 3 areas including essential Core and optional Elective areas:
1. Core units - total of 3 units
Choose one (1) from each area:
A. Occupational Health and Safety
B. Communication
C. Prepare for work
2. Elective units: Industry Skills Support - maximum of 170 hours from any area, with no required minimum hours:
A. CGEA
B. Foundation Skills
C. General skills
3. Elective units: General - minimum of 100 hours required to a maximum of 230 hours from any of the following:
- The list below, OR
- Any endorsed Training Package at AQF Level 1, OR
- Any Accredited Courses at AQF Level 1
