Description
This qualification addresses work in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres and work under professional supervision within defined organisation guidelines or as sole practitioners.
These workers:
Assist with design, implementation and evaluation of health and leisure activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas
May be responsible for other workers.
Occupational titles may include:
Activities officer
Diversional therapy assistant
Community leisure officer
Leisure officer
Disability officer - day support
Recreation activities officer

Packaging Rules
Sixteen (16) units are required for award of this qualification including:- eleven (11) core units
- five (5) elective units
A wide range of elective units is available, including:
- Group A WHS electives of which one (1) must be selected for this qualification
- Group B electives of which one (1) must be selected for this qualification
- Groups C and D electives from which at least one (1) unit must be selected
- Group E electives which are recommended for culturally aware and respectful practice
- Other relevant electives listed in the qualification outline
- Units of competency to address workplace requirements and packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in Community Services and/or Health Training Packages
- Where appropriate, to address workplace requirements, up to three (3) units of competency packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in other relevant Training Packages or accredited courses where the details of those courses are available on the NTIS
