Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical or managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate the work of self and/or team in the mass communications industries of radio and TV broadcasting, the internet, journalism, advertising and photography.
Packaging Rules
Total number of units = fifteen (15)
- three (3) core units plus
- twelve (12) elective units of which:
- ten (10) units must be selected from the electives listed below
- two (2) units may be selected from the remaining listed electives or any currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course at Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level.

This qualification can provide for specialisations. To achieve these specialisations, the following additional packaging rules must be adhered to:
- For specialisation in Interactive Media, six (6) elective units must be selected from Group A.
- For specialisation in Specialist Make-up Services, six (6) specialist units must be selected from Group B, and must include CUAMUP401 Design, apply and remove make-up and CUAMUP403 Style hair for performance or productions.

Refer to the Implementation Guide for details about choosing electives to support specialisations.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid vocational outcome.
