Description
This qualification provides an entry level for Population Health work or as an additional qualification to those with existing specialist/clinical health qualifications. It covers workers who would contribute to the implementation of Population Health projects/programs by applying significant judgement in carrying out broad plans set out by Population Health professionals. These workers may be responsible for managing the work of others.
Occupational titles for these workers may include:
Cancer notifications coordinator
Area manager, health promotions
Community development worker
Coordinator, needle and syringe exchange program
Community health worker
Coordinator, regional women's health
Coordinator, Aboriginal neighbourhood house
Environmental health worker
Environmental technical officer
Health promotion coordinator
Gay men's education support officer
Manager, migrant health services
Health sponsorship coordinator
Project manager
Immunisation and TB coordinator
Regional coordinator
Immunisation officer
Regional programs coordinator
Peer education officer
Senior project officer

Packaging Rules
Twenty two (22) units of competency are required for award of this qualification, including:- ten (10) core units
- twelve (12) elective units
A wide range of elective units is available, including:
- Group A electives which are recommended for culturally aware and respectful practice
- Group B electives - at least seven (7) units required from this group
- Other relevant electives listed
- Units of competency to address workplace requirements and packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in Health and/or Community Services Training Packages
- Where appropriate, to address workplace requirements, up to four (4) units of competency packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in other relevant Training Packages or accredited courses where the details of those courses are available on TGA or other public listing
