Description

This course is intended to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to perform tasks associated with working as an early childhood educator who provides services and programs to children up to the age of five years and their families outside of Australia. This service provision could occur in a range of contexts including government, community, health or education settings and is guided by the tenets of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Graduates will gain the skills and knowledge to:
- Utilise children’s right to play as a foundation for supporting their holistic learning, development, and wellbeing
- Utilise verbal, non-verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work co-operatively with colleagues and establish partnerships with families
- Establish and promote environments that facilitate children’s health and safety
- Lead early childhood teams and oversee the implementation of compliant and ethical work practices
- Design, implement and evaluate programs, including routines, transitions and environments, that promote children’s rights
- Undertake advocacy roles that recognise children as active, contributing citizens and promote their rights at a service, community and global level
- Enhance their own and others professional capabilities through reflection, review and research.

This course is designed to be delivered offshore and hence does not meet the regulatory requirements for employment in a regulated education and care setting within Australia. The course is not approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) which is an independent national authority that assists Australian governments in administering the National Quality Framework (NQF) for children’s education and care.
