Description
This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of tourism or travel skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to coordinate travel or tourism operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others, and make a range of operational business decisions.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in many travel and tourism industry sectors as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes travel agencies, tour wholesalers, tour operators, inbound tour operators, holiday parks and resorts, tourist attractions, visitor information centres, and other tourism businesses.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Packaging Rules
Twenty-three (23) units must be completed:- thirteen (13) core units
- ten (10) elective units, consisting of:
- six (6) units from Group A
- four (4) units from Group A, Group B, elsewhere in the SIT Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.
Any combination of electives that meets the above rules can be selected for the award of theDiploma of Travel and Tourism Management. Electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation, as outlined below.
Packaging for specialisation:
For the award of the Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management (Holiday Parks and Resorts), the following packaging rules apply:
- thirteen (13) core units
- ten (10) elective units, consisting of:
- three (3) units from Group B, one of which must be SITTIND004 Source and use information on the holiday park and resort industry
- four (4) units from Group A, Group B or Group C
- three (3) units from the list below, or any current Training Package or accredited course.
The selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the complexity of skills appropriate to the AQF level of this qualification.
Note: Units marked with * on training.gov.au (TGA) have one or more prerequisites. Refer to individual units for details.
1. Core Units
All thirteen (13) units must be completed.
2. Group A Elective Units – Travel and Tourism
For award of the Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management, at least six (6) units must be selected.
For award of the Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management (Holiday Parks and Resorts) specialisation, up to seven (7) units may be selected.

3. Group B Elective Units – Holiday Parks and Resorts
For the award of the Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management (Holiday Parks and Resorts) specialisation, three (3) units must be selected.
One unit must be SITTIND004 Source and use information on the holiday park and resort industry.
